Umbria is an incredible region, and you’ll find some of the finest gastronomic traditions in Italy here, along with exceptional wines and legendary hospitality. But there’s even more waiting for you—like the Nera, a charming mountain river flowing through lush vegetation, home to massive brown trout eager to rise to terrestrials and mayflies. This is an all-encompassing experience, where you’ll enjoy incredible fishing, delicious food, and breathtaking nature.
Our day begins by exploring the river's best spots, casting dry flies that imitate the abundant mayflies and caddisflies. On the Nera, trout feed near the banks, so you’ll need precise casts under the dense vegetation.
When it’s time for a break, we’ll sit down to a delicious local lunch featuring traditional Umbrian dishes like agnello allo scottadito (grilled lamb) or freshly made pasta. Taking a moment to enjoy a meal this good will feel like a well-deserved reward.
In the afternoon, we’ll return to the river, relishing the hatches that bring wild brown trout to the surface and provide plenty of action. Surrounded by the lush vegetation and narrow valleys of the Valnerina, we’ll be immersed in a stunning setting that evokes a sense of timelessness, reminiscent of when Goethe explored these very paths on his Grand Tour, seeking artistic inspiration in Italy’s enduring beauty.
