Who wouldn’t want to go trekking in the Dolomites? And even more, who wouldn’t want to combine trekking with carrying a fishing rod along the way?
Well, this is one of those days when you can do just that. Hike along stunning riverside trails, spot wild trout and Arctic char from above, pause to plan your approach, hide behind a rock, cast your line, and then keep going. Cross lush green valleys, fish for wild trout in peat bogs inhabited by beavers, all while being watched over by the majestic Brenta Dolomites.
You can break up the trek with either a packed lunch or a traditional meal at a mountain hut.
In short, this is the kind of day that feels like a Sunday spent with friends: full of nature, exploration, and fishing. It's suitable for everyone, with options ranging from half-hour walks to three-hour treks.
Our guides are ready to do whatever it takes to give you a day of complete immersion in nature.
Catches & tecnique for fishing the Dolomites
In this itinerary, you'll primarily fish for wild brown trout and arctic char. Occasionally, you might encounter a marble trout, the iconic fish of the Dolomites, though it is more challenging to deceive.
We’ll use lightweight rods, ideal for trekking, paired with large dry flies such as terrestrials, sedges, and attractor flies. Our goal will be to entice the trout of these cold waters, which eagerly await summer to feed and prepare for the harsh winter ahead.
The setting includes clear mountain streams, alpine lakes, and peat bogs—a distinctive landscape of this region. Here, you can find large trout feeding in shallow waters on crickets and unfortunate insects that fall into the water.
